This Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) Cardiac First Response (CFR) Community course teaches participants the concepts and application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and the methods to use when dealing with a casualty who has an obstructed airway. The course is carried out by PHECC Instructors listed on the training faculty of EMS & Associates, which is a PHECC-Recognised Institution.
The practical skills on this course are delivered by a PHECC CFR Instructor, using PHECC training videos/materials. Participants are taught rescue breaths, chest compressions and how to effectively use an AED when a sudden cardiac arrest occurs.
Assessments are carried out by the course tutor on the practical application of CPR and the use of the AED.
There is a maximum ratio of 6:1 (Learner:Instructor) on each course.
One half-day with a 15-minute refreshment break
No previous qualifications are required for learners to participate in the course. Any medical condition (including pregnancy) that would affect a participant’s ability to complete the practical skills session must be discussed with the course instructor before the course commences.
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be issued joint PHECC/EMS & Associates certificates/cards, which will be valid for two years from the date of issue.
