During the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, the "Return to Work Safely Protocol" was published by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation and the Department of Health. The purpose of this document was to support employers and employees in managing their return to work. On the 20 th of November 2020, the Government published a revised document called the "Work Safely Protocol" (WSP).
One essential requirement of both Protocols is the preparation of a COVID-19 Response Plan. The COVID-19 Response Plan details the policies and practices necessary for an employer to meet the Government's 'Return to Work Safely Protocol' and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.
The Response Plan will give an overview of key areas that employers have assessed and develop procedures to ensure compliance with the protocol and minimise the risk to workers and others. All workplaces, including those with customer-facing interaction or areas where workers share a workplace, must develop a Response Plan. The Response Plan needs a strong commitment from management and workers. It should be developed and put in place in consultation with workers. Consultation with workers, supervision, clear direction and information for customers and clients is key in ensuring your COVID-19 Response Plan's success.
