Health & Safety Services
Health and Safety is aimed primarily at the prevention of accidents and ill-health in the workplace. Sounds simple, doesn’t it. To be an effective, productive and successful business or service provider, you must consider the health and safety of any person who interacts with your organisation – employees, contractors, clients, visitors or members of the public.
There usually are three reasons given for following the practices of health and safety – the Moral obligation of protecting a fellow human being, the Legal Obligation to which you must comply with legislation and the Economic obligation where the cost of failure ultimately impacts on your business or service provision.
The goal of health and safety management is to foster a safe and healthy work environment for all stakeholders – employers, employees, clients, contractors, visitors and members of the public.
Health and Safety Management refers to a set of policies, procedures and guidelines that protect the safety, welfare and health of any person engaged in work or employment and is governed by national legislation, much of which is derived from European Directives. The primary piece of legislation governing the duties of employers to keep their workforce safe and healthy is the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005.
The cornerstone of good management for workplace activities is having in place a site-specific and up-to-date Health & Safety Statement. Your Safety Statement is a commitment in writing of all the measures that your organisation will take to prevent injury and ill health to your employees. It must be based on Risk Assessments that you have carried out that are specific to the work activities in the location to which it applies. It is a legal requirement under Section 20 of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 to have a Safety Statement.
As we specialise in the preparation of Safety Statements, Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Health & Safety related policies and procedures it makes sense to talk to us. We approach all matters, relative to legislation, in a reasonable and practical manner.
