TRAINING COURSES

Safe Pass

The SOLAS Safe Pass Programme was developed following an initiative by the Construction Industry Training Committee. The purpose of the SOLAS Safe Pass Health and Safety Awareness Training course is to provide, over the course of time, all construction sites and relevant local authority personnel with a basic knowledge of health and safety. The health and safety awareness training provided under the SOLAS Safe Pass Programme – while complying with the provisions of the Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work Act 2005, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations, and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 – must not be seen to relieve employers of their statutory duty to provide their employees with other appropriate health and safety training.

Course Methodology & Assessment

This course is delivered by a SOLAS-registered Safe Pass Tutor, who delivers and administers the course in accordance with the SOLAS Safe Pass Tutor Code of Conduct. The assessment consists of 20 written multiple choice questions (MCQs), and at least 14 must be answered correctly.

When an Interpreter is required, they must hold a recognised qualification (normally from a third-level college or a recognised language school), which states that he/she is qualified to translate from a given language into English. (For courses delivered to non-English speakers, if an Interpreter is present, the finish time is 8:00 p.m.)
